Privacy policy
Last updated 16 October 2026
This policy explains what information Ed Crowther's site ("we", "us") collects when you use this website, why we collect it, and your rights.
Who is responsible
Ed Crowther's site runs this website and decides how your information is used. In data protection law, we are the controller of your information.
The website is built and hosted on OneSite.to, a service from Super Basic Limited (company number 16274977, Lincoln, England). Super Basic stores and handles information for us as our processor. It only uses it to run the service, keep it secure and meet its legal duties. Super Basic's own privacy notice is at superbasic.net/legal/privacy.
How to contact us
Use the contact details on this website. If you cannot reach us, email Super Basic at hello@thesuperbasic.com and they will pass your message on.
What we collect and why
When you visit
When a page loads, we record which page it was, the time, your browser and device type, and the page that sent you here, if any. So we do not count the same person twice, your internet address and browser details are turned into a one-way code. Your internet address itself is not kept with these visit records. Taps on links, products and buttons are counted the same way. We use this to see how many people visit and what they look at. It does not use cookies.
Our hosting provider also keeps short-term technical logs, which include internet addresses, to keep the website running and secure.
If you give us your email address
If you join our email list, or ask to hear from us if this website moves, we keep your email address, when you signed up and which form you used. We use it to send you what you asked for. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.
If you buy something
Payments are taken by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe. We never see them and they are not stored on this website. We receive your name, email address, what you bought, the price and a payment reference, so we can provide your order, answer questions and keep the records the law requires. Stripe also uses your details to take the payment and prevent fraud. See stripe.com/privacy.
Private pages, offers and games
If you open a password-protected page, or earn a discount from an offer, poll or game on this website, a small cookie remembers it for a short time. Our cookie policy explains each one.
A message, poll or game shown when you arrive is run by LinkAds.to, another Super Basic service, for Ed Crowther's site. Anything you enter there, such as a poll answer or an email address for a discount code, is collected for us and handled as this policy explains.
Bookings, tickets and other websites
Buttons for bookings or tickets can take you to Bookin.to or Entry.to, which Super Basic also runs for Ed Crowther's site. The details you give there are explained on those pages. Other links take you to websites we do not control, which have their own privacy policies.
Maps and videos
A map loads from Google only when you tap Show map. Google then receives your internet address and may set its own cookies. Video previews and some pictures load from other services, such as YouTube, which receive your internet address when they load.
If you contact us
If you email, message or call us, we keep what you send so we can reply.
Our legal reasons
- Visit counts, security logs and link taps: our legitimate interest in running a safe website and understanding how it is used.
- Email updates: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Orders: to carry out our contract with you, and our legal duty to keep financial records.
- Replying to you: our legitimate interest in answering your message, or steps you asked for before an order.
We do not make decisions about you by automated means.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We only share it with:
- Super Basic Limited, which runs this website for us, and the companies it uses for hosting, storage, databases and sending email.
- Stripe, if you buy something.
- Our professional advisers, or the authorities when the law requires it.
This website's information is mainly stored in Ireland, in the European Union. Some of the companies that help run it are based in, or can reach information from, other countries, including the United States. When information leaves the UK, it is protected as UK data protection law requires, for example by UK adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
- Visit records: as long as we need them for our visitor numbers.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Orders: usually six years, because tax law requires it.
- Messages: as long as we need to deal with them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your information,
- correct anything that is wrong,
- delete your information,
- limit how we use it, or stop using it,
- send it to you or another organisation in a common format,
- stop sending you marketing, at any time.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. We will reply within one month, and there is usually no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we use your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
